# How to Remove Your Dexcom G7 Sensor After Expiration

**Your Dexcom G7 CGM automatically expires after 10 days of use.** You'll receive a notification and see your sensor status updated to "expired" in the Dexcom G7 app when it's time for replacement.

## Checking Your Sensor's Remaining Days

_Quickly view how much time is left on your current sensor through the app._

To see how many days you have remaining on the sensor:

1.  Open your Dexcom G7 app
2.  Tap on **"Connections"** along the bottom of the screen
3.  Tap on **"Sensor"** at the top of the screen
4.  This section will show how many days you have remaining on your current sensor

**Note:** If nothing is shown in the sensor section, then your sensor is not activated.

## Step-by-Step Sensor Removal Process

_Safe and easy removal process once your sensor expires._

After you see the expiration message, follow these steps:

### 1\. Disconnect Your Sensor

*   Open the Dexcom G7 app
*   Tap on **"Connections"** along the bottom of the screen
*   Tap on **"Sensor"** at the top of the screen
*   Tap on the **"STOP SENSOR SESSION"** button

### 2\. Remove the Protective Patch

*   Lift the edge of the Nutrisense Protective Patch adhesive
*   Pull it gently from the skin

### 3\. Remove the CGM Device

*   Pinch a small portion of the adhesive attached to your skin
*   Pull it up and towards the center of your CGM, like removing a bandaid
*   The device should come off easily

**Removal Tip:** If you need help removing the CGM, apply baby oil or vegetable oil for 5-10 minutes prior to removal to loosen the adhesive.

### 4\. Dispose of the Used CGM

*   Wrap the used CGM in tissue, toilet paper, or paper towel
*   Throw it in the trash - it cannot be reused or recycled

**Safety Note:** There is no needle in the CGM, so it is safe to throw out with regular trash.
