The relationship between sleep and glucose can go in both directions. Poor sleep can lead to elevated glucose values, and elevated glucose values can also contribute to poor sleep.

People with diabetes or pre-diabetes are more likely to struggle with the dawn phenomenon and/or nocturnal hypoglycemia, and this may require specific interventions to minimize these conditions.

Practicing good sleep hygiene is a skill that can take time to develop but can help to enhance your sleep in the long run.
