Great to hear that you're interested in learning more about wearing your CGM! Our goal is to help you get the most out of your device while keeping it safe and secure. Here are some important tips to keep in mind:
MRIs, CT Scans, and X-rays
It's essential to note that while the CGM is generally safe to wear during some medical procedures, it's not advisable to wear the sensor during an X-ray, MRI, or CT scan. The magnetic fields generated during these procedures can interfere with the sensor's readings. However, you can keep the CGM on during a mammogram. If you're unsure about wearing your CGM during a medical procedure, we recommend consulting with your healthcare provider.
Flying
If you're traveling by plane with your CGM, inform the TSA or international security and request a manual check to prevent issues with full-body scans or X-rays. CGMs can go through metal detectors without issues, but they may malfunction when going through the X-ray machine. Before sending your carry-on luggage through the X-ray machine, remove the CGM and inform security that you have a medical device that requires manual checking.
Showering and Working Out
You can wear your CGM while showering and working out, but be careful not to catch it on your clothes or any other materials, as this can knock it out of place or loosen the adhesive. For intense exercise, we recommend using the protective patch to secure the CGM.
Sauna
If you plan on using your CGM in a sauna or other areas with extreme temperatures, please note that the sensor operates best between 50 °F and 113 °F and can be stored in temperatures between 39 °F to 77 °F. After sauna use, you may notice your CGM shuts off and stops collecting data. Give it some time to cool down, and it should start scanning again.
Swimming
The sensor is water-resistant, but it should not be taken deeper than 3 feet (1 meter) and should not be exposed to salt/seawater. If you plan on swimming for longer than 30 minutes, we recommend using a large waterproof patch to keep the sensor in place. Please note that the CGM has not been tested for scuba diving and should be inserted after diving.
We strongly advise wearing the Nutrisense Protective Patch provided to ensure that the sensor remains secure and undamaged throughout the day.
