At Nutrisense, we're all about helping you achieve your health goals! And one way to do that is by optimizing your sensor placement. Follow these simple tips to get started:
Tips and Tricks:
- Choose the back of your arm with the most fat, making sure it's intact skin without irritation.(Please note that the Abbott Freestyle Libre has only been approved for use on the back of the arm.)
- Allow at least one week for previous insertion sites to heal before placing another sensor in the same location. To help with this, alternate arms between sensor placements.
- Consider your sleeping positions when choosing a sensor placement spot. If you're a side sleeper, select an area that won't be bothersome when sleeping.
- Apply the sensor to clean skin. If you have oily skin, try gentle exfoliation before applying. Use the alcohol wipe included in each kit to clean the area you plan to use, then wait for it to dry before inserting the sensor.
- If you have more hair in the area you want to apply the sensor, consider shaving a section to avoid discomfort when removing the sensor.
- Avoid applying the sensor immediately after showering or in a steamy bathroom. When possible, dry the area thoroughly with a hairdryer or apply the sensor in a dry environment. This will help the sensor and patch adhere better to the skin.
- For active lifestyles, use a skin protection barrier like Skin Tac wipes or Skin-Prep wipes before applying the sensor.
- Use the protective patch included with the sensor to protect it during use. Avoid removing the patch during sensor wear, as this can increase the risk of accidental sensor removal. If you need to remove the protective patch at any time, do so carefully and replace it with another patch.
If you experience a reaction to the patches provided or have any other concerns about your sensor wear, please the Nutrisense support team. We're always here to help!
