It has been a while since our last release! Over the last 3 months, we have completed a thorough overhaul of our UI and improved usability for all of our core user flows. We also added many new features, such as meal and daily scoring, barcode scanning, contextual dietitian notes, fasting glucose, and much more. Keep reading below to learn about everything that's new in v2.0!

👨🏻🎨 New Look and Feel
We've drastically improved the UI experience across the app. There are more changes than I can possibly go over in this post, but these are some of the notable ones:
More consistent layout, typography, color, and navigation controls across the whole app.
The core meal and activity tracking flows have been redesigned to be more user friendly.
The main glucose chart is now collapsible to make room for multiple expanded meal cards.
Meal and activity cards have been redesigned to be more space efficient while still preserving all of their functionality.
We have added a meal details view which brings together all the essential information about a meal, its ingredients, and effect on your glucose levels.
💯 Daily Scores and Meal Scores
We are trying out the idea of a simplified scoring system to help you focus on what is important without getting too caught up in the numbers.
The daily scores are helpful when comparing one day to another. They are visible in the daily summary card, and are made up of the following components:
Peak - The max glucose level reached during the span of a day.
Average - The average glucose level for that day.
Adaptability - The time spent in a healthy glucose range for the day.
Variability - The standard deviation of the glucose excursions for the day.
The meal scores are helpful when comparing two meals. They are based on concepts you are already familiar with, such as Max, AUC, Delta and a new measurement called 2hr Delta. These raw values are converted to a score from 1-10 and combined into a single meal score. We've given these concepts friendlier names to keep things simple:
Peak - The max glucose level during the 2hr interval after a meal.
Exposure - The area under the curve during the 2hr interval after a meal.
Stability - The difference between the lowest and highest glucose levels during the 2hr interval after a meal.
Recovery - The difference between the glucose level immediately before the meal and 2 hours after the meal.
The meal detail screen has also been revamped to help you see all the relevant meal info in a single place. To edit the meal, simply tap the pencil button in the top right hand corner.
🥫 Barcode Scanning
We understand that logging meals which don't exist in our food database is time consuming. This is why we have added barcode scanning functionality to speed up the process. When creating a new ingredient in your custom ingredient list, you can now tap the the barcode button to quickly get all the macro information from the ingredient packaging. We are also adding barcode scanning to the meal creation flow in a few weeks!
📝 Dietitian Notes
While the in-app chat is a great way to communicate with your dietitian, we wanted a way for our dietitians to leave contextual notes within the user data. We added this functionality using the familiar notes feature. A dietitian can now leave a note directly on your timeline. This note will be labeled accordingly, and you will receive a push notification notifying you about the message. You can also search these notes in the history view!
🛌 Fasting Glucose Stats and Charts
We added overnight and morning glucose stats to help you track your fasting glucose levels. The Sleep Average is your average glucose throughout your fasting window (while you sleep), and the Morning Average is a point-in-time measurement of your glucose level at the end of your fasting window (just before breakfast). You can adjust your fasting window to your liking in the User Settings.
📓 History List
The dashboard Meals tab has been replaced with the History tab. This tab allows you see the complete timeline of everything that you have tracked, with search filters to help you find what you are looking for. Please note, that you can no longer re-order this list by various glucose metrics. To order your meals by score and other glucose metrics, please use the experiments feature described below.
Experiments are an important tool for comparing meal responses, so we have moved this feature to the dashboard while Habits have been moved to the side drawer.
Experiments allow you to group meals by any criteria, or to create a custom list of meals that you would like to compare. One common way to use experiments is to test the effects of specific ingredients (coffee for example). Another use of experiments is to order your meals by their glucose metrics (Score, Peak, Exposure, Stability, or Recovery) over some time period of time (7, 14, 30, 60 days) giving you the 'best' or 'worst' meals list for that time period.
To add a filter to a new experiment, either use the search bar for a quick text search or tap the filter button in the top right hand corner to get more granular about which meals show up. These filters will be automatically saved and the experiment will always be kept up to date.
Your dietitian may also create experiments for you to reference, so if you see an experiment that you didn't create (All Meals is a common title we use), it's probably coming from our health team 😉
📲 Updated Widget
This is a quick reminder that the Nutrisense app comes with a home screen widget that lets you scan and log meals with a single tap!
