Given the physiologic differences between glucose concentrations within the interstitial fluid (which the CGM measures) and capillary blood (as measured by fingerstick glucometer readings), there may be significant differences in glucose readings. These observed differences are more pronounced during times of rapid change in blood glucose, such as after eating, exercising, and dosing insulin. Additionally, the current CGM system utilized at Nutrisense does not provide alerts or alarms for both hypoglycemic and hyperglycemic glucose events. The Nutrisense system is not designed to replace glucose testing for diabetes treatment decisions at this time, however, we would highly encourage you to request a prescription for a CGM from your primary care provider, as well as a referral to a Certified Diabetes Care and Education Specialist (CDCES) within your area.
